The Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra
"Big things in the future for this amazing band from the
west coast of Canada who look and play like they are from
deep Europe but sound like they were raised by Bill Monroe."
Dan Cowan - Skaspot Live Network
Griffiths, Ian: lead vocals, accordian
Loewen, Kurt: lead vocals, guitar
M'Gonigle, Patrick: vocals, violin, mandolin
Mynett, Peter: vocals, stand up bass
Wolda, Paul: vocals, percussion
Emerging as on of Canada's most exciting young multi-genre
roots band, The Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra's faithful
underground following has expanded to North American
awareness in 2011, and saw them playing festivals across
Canada and the US in 2010 and 2011.
TMO delivers their brand of acoustic, high energy
Gypsy-Roots-Folk-Grass with dedication and precision,
keeping it exciting and generating dancing fans with every
show. They've sold hundreds of albums at individual shows,
and tend to always be that name you overhear someone saying
"Did you see that band?"
The
Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra have consistently followed the
demands of their fans, taking them from a 4 month tour in
Europe in 2008, national and international tours in 2009,
2010 and 2011 that garnered much recognition, wining 2010
Monday Magazine “M” award for Most Promising Band, and
performing showcases at NXNE, Folk Alliance, and this year
at OCFF.
The
quintet recently recorded a second EP, September, 2011 in
Nashville, TN, directly after playing Universal Fairs in
Memphis, where they opened for Hanson. The EP was released
for promotional use only, featuring this years festival hits
“The Otter Song” (“Shine”) and “Mountains On Fire”,
as well as a new recording of “Home On The Water”,
which has been quoted by one young fan as being “the song
of our generation”, and a video of TMO headlining South
Country Fair.
With an absolute truth to their music that is immediately
recognized by audiences, The EP sees TMO experimenting with
purposefully plodding and visceral rhythms, described as
“like a heard of elephants being held back tight with
reigns”, interwoven with elemental break downs, jazz
flourishes, and often unadorned, but striking vocals . The
ballads have a nostalgic, romantic appeal and a developing
mastership of group vocals and 3 part harmonies. It is as
the band says, just a blueprint of the next album, to be
recorded in January, 2012 with engineer and producer David
Travers-Smith.
TMO's long awaited new album, which promises to be the most
cohesive and developed to date (in no small way due to
Travers-Smith's proven ability in excellence with recording
acoustic instruments, group harmonies, and the binding of
various styles of song writing) will be available for CD
review May 2012, just prior to festival season. TMO will be
available to tour festivals across North America with their
new album, summer 2012, and will be following up with a hard
ticket CD release tour the fall and winter 2012.
Thank you for considering The Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra

Hear what others are saying
"Their infectious stage presence
is an irresistible assault of crazed gypsy-ska-folk-grass
mayhem!" -Ben Hood, New world Theatre
"...exciting musical growth and exploration that feeds off
the instant connection they establish with their audience
the minute they start playing. Gypsy Ska meets Bluegrass on
the dance floor and the crowd goes nuts!"-Dan Cowan, Skaspot
Live Network
"TMO delivered a great performance with an infectious and
positive energy to our Saturday night crowd. It is music
that gets you up dancing while still maintaining attention
to detail and finesse in the playing. At our festival, every
band has to be able to give a polished mainstage show that
keeps the audience going for the entire evening - TMO
certainly did that and more ending with standing ovations
for more. They were a pleasure to work with and professional
from beginning to end. I would recommend them to any
festival." - Dierdre Atkinson Artistic Director,

with a sincerity that is honest and conscious of what has
